HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister meets with winning teams of the Startup Bahrain-UoB Competition
His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, today met with the teams who won the Startup Bahrain-UoB Competition at Riffa Palace.
The competition is designed for Bahraini startups and is supported by the Labour Fund (Tamkeen). The Res-Q team secured first place, followed by the Loop team in second place and the Durra team in third. His Royal Highness congratulated the winning teams and wished them continued success.
His Royal Highness affirmed that supporting innovation and entrepreneurship by providing the tools to enable national talent to thrive is a key pillar of Bahrain’s development, in line with the vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.
HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister highlighted the Kingdom’s commitment to creating more opportunities for Bahraini citizens, enabling them to turn their ideas and ambitions into successful ventures that will contribute to national economic progress.
HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad expressed his pride in the achievements of Bahraini citizens across various fields, noting that these accomplishments reflect their ambition, creativity, and determination, while showcasing the talents of the Kingdom’s youth and national workforce, who continue to advance national aspirations.
His Royal Highness commended Tamkeen’s efforts, led by His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Minister of the Prime Minister’s Court and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Tamkeen, in advancing national capabilities and creating opportunities for entrepreneurs, thereby strengthening their contribution to Bahrain’s development and prosperity and supporting the Kingdom’s vision for a more diversified and competitive economy.
HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister also commended the participants for presenting innovative projects that reflect the ambition and creativity of Bahraini youth to develop cutting edge solutions to address various challenges.
His Royal Highness also commended the organisers of the competition for providing a platform that supports talented individuals and entrepreneurs, noting that participation in the competition will become a graduation requirement for students enrolled at the University of Bahrain’s College of Business Administration next year.
His Royal Highness also highlighted the efforts of HE Dr Mohammed bin Mubarak Juma, Minister of Education and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the University of Bahrain, along with those involved in the education sector, in developing initiatives that match educational outcomes with the needs of the labour market.
HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister also expressed his appreciation to all the competition’s partners, such as the Bahrain Economic Development Board (Bahrain EDB), the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, the University of Bahrain, and StartUp Bahrain.
HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad highlighted the progress made by StartUp Bahrain since its launch in 2013 and how it has strengthened Bahrain’s entrepreneurship ecosystem by empowering Bahraini start-ups to launch and scale up.
His Royal Highness noted that StartUp Bahrain continues to foster an environment that supports talent and entrepreneurship. His Royal Highness affirmed the importance of further strengthening public-private partnerships and supporting initiatives that create new opportunities for entrepreneurs, thereby enhancing Bahrain’s position as a hub for innovation, investment, and promising startups, while supporting the development of the Kingdom’s entrepreneurship ecosystem and enabling startups to grow, expand, and compete.
For their part, the winning teams expressed their appreciation for HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister’s continued support of young talent and entrepreneurs in the Kingdom of Bahrain. They also expressed their pride in meeting His Royal Highness, noting that the meeting serves as a strong motivation to continue striving for further success.
