HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister visits the Bapco refinery
His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, today visited the Bapco refinery, where His Royal Highness conveyed the greetings and appreciation of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa to all employees of Bapco Energies.
His Royal Highness was welcomed by His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty the King for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Bapco Energies.
HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister expressed his pride in the dedicated efforts of HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad and all Bapco Energies personnel. His Royal Highness commended the competence, capability, and sense of national responsibility of the workforce, noting their efforts in maintaining the operational continuity, ensuring the efficiency of the Kingdom’s energy system, and safeguarding the continuity of its supply chains, thereby reinforcing the security of the energy sector and its role as a vital pillar of the national economy amid the hostile Iranian aggression against Bahrain.
His Royal Highness commended the developmental initiatives and strategic projects undertaken by Bapco Energies and its subsidiaries, that advance the efficiency and competitiveness of both the energy sector and Bapco Energies. His Royal Highness noted that these efforts are a critical contributor to the national economy and drive the sector’s contribution to the advancement of the Kingdom’s comprehensive development led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.
HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister emphasised that the national progress achieved by the energy sector over the past decades reflects an ambitious vision recognising the sector’s pivotal role in supporting Bahrain’s economic development. That vision is further underpinned by the competence and expertise of the national workforce, which has helped develop the sector, enhance its capabilities, and strengthen its contribution to the national economy.
During the visit, His Royal Highness met with the Board of Directors and Executive Management of Bapco Energies. His Royal Highness expressed his pride in the range of talented individuals at Bapco Energies and its subsidiaries and thanked them for the pivotal role they play in advancing the Kingdom’s energy ecosystem and enhancing its operational efficiency and sustainability.
His Royal Highness stressed that investment in human capital is the bedrock of skills and expertise development, which is fundamental to achieving the objectives of this vital sector.
His Royal Highness noted that Bahrain stands today at a national milestone in the energy sector. Since its establishment in 1929, with refining operations beginning in 1936, Bapco has played a prominent role in developing the oil and refining sector across the region and continues to develop and modernise today through the efforts of its national workforce.
HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister highlighted the importance of building on these prior to enhance the efficiency, sustainability, and competitiveness of this vital sector.
During the visit, His Royal Highness was briefed on the refinery’s operations and modernisation programme, as well as its key projects, initiatives, and development programmes.
HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister also reviewed efforts to enhance the security of oil facilities and raise their level of preparedness in the face of various challenges, thereby ensuring operational continuity and the sustainability of energy supplies.
HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad also met with Bapco employees, commending them for setting the national standard in carrying out their duties with responsibility and competence under all circumstances.
His Royal Highness underscored the importance of continuing to implement strategic projects that contribute to the development of the energy sector and enhance its capabilities, while expanding the adoption of advanced technologies and innovative solutions that improve operational efficiency.
HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister also highlighted the importance of continuing to explore promising investment opportunities that grow the energy sector and bolster its competitiveness, strengthening the Kingdom of Bahrain’s position and creating more high-quality opportunities for its people.
His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa expressed his appreciation and gratitude for His Royal Highness’s historic visit and tour of the Bapco refinery.
His Highness noted that the visit reflects His Royal Highness’s commitment to closely following the refinery’s operations and supporting the national workforce responsible for its management and operation.
His Highness emphasised His Royal Highness’s support for the Kingdom’s energy sector, particularly during the challenging circumstances posed by the hostile Iranian aggression.
His Highness stressed that His Royal Highness’s support played an important role in strengthening rapid-response efforts and ensuring the continuity of the company’s operations.
His Highness also commended His Royal Highness’s commitment to meeting the employees who contributed to efficiently and successfully addressing the repercussions of these developments, as well as His Royal Highness’s recognition and encouragement of their efforts, which provide them with significant motivation to continue fulfilling their responsibilities with determination, dedication, and efficiency.
