HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister receives the Founding Director of the Centre for Islamic Archaeology at the University of Exeter

His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, today received Professor Timothy Insoll, Founding Director of the Centre for Islamic Archaeology at the University of Exeter in the United Kingdom, at Gudaibiya Palace.

Professor Insoll presented His Royal Highness with a copy of his book, “Islamic Archaeology in Global Perspective”, dedicating its introduction to His Royal Highness in recognition of his support for the writing and publication of the book.

During the meeting, His Royal Highness emphasised the importance of continued support for efforts and initiatives in excavation and archaeology that uncover and preserve items of historical and civilisational significance.

HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister stressed the need to document archaeological discoveries and their accompanying research, noting their role in enriching scholarly knowledge, deepening understanding of Islamic history and its civilisational heritage, and preserving that legacy for future generations.

His Royal Highness expressed his appreciation to Professor Insoll for his efforts in excavation and archaeology and congratulated him on his publication, which represents a valuable contribution to the literature in this field.

For his part, Professor Insoll thanked His Royal Highness for his continued support for excavation and archaeology. Professor Insoll also said he was honoured to dedicate the book to His Royal Highness, and wished the Kingdom continued progress and prosperity.

A number of senior officials also attended the meeting.
