HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister meets with the Prime Minister of the Republic of Iraq

His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, today met with His Excellency Ali Faleh Al-Zaidi, Prime Minister of the Republic of Iraq, at Gudaibiya Palace.

His Royal Highness affirmed the longstanding historical relations between the Kingdom of Bahrain and Iraq and its continued progress, emphasising the importance of deepening ties to meet shared aspirations.

His Royal Highness expressed his appreciation for the efforts of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Iraq and his commitment to further strengthening bilateral cooperation and the longstanding ties between the two countries. His Royal Highness also recognised his gratitude for Iraq’s solidarity and support for Bahrain and its condemnation of the hostile Iranian aggression targeting the Kingdom.

During the meeting, issues and regional and international developments of mutual interest were discussed, including the latest developments in the Middle East.

Both sides outlined their support for efforts aimed at upholding security and stability and promoting peace in the region, in the interests of its countries and peoples.

His Royal Highness held talks with HE Al-Zaidi, during which opportunities to bolster bilateral cooperation and coordination were reviewed, with a view to advancing development in both countries and achieving shared aspirations.

An official reception ceremony was held for HE the Prime Minister of Iraq, featuring the Bahraini and Iraqi national anthems.

For his part, HE Al-Zaidi thanked His Royal Highness for his commitment to strengthening bilateral relations.

HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister also hosted a luncheon in honour of HE the Prime Minister and the accompanying delegation’s visit to Bahrain.

HH Shaikh Ali bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, the Advisor to HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, HE Shaikh Khalid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, the Deputy Prime Minister, HE General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, Minister of Interior, HH Shaikh Isa bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Minister of the Prime Minister’s Court, HE Dr Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, HE Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Minister of Finance and National Economy, along with several senior officials, were also in attendance.
