Deputy King Chairs EDB Meeting

Achieving economic growth and enhancing citizens’ standards of living are top priorities. “We won’t achieve these goals unless we succeed in implementing Bahrain’s strategic masterplan”, Deputy King His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Economic Development Board chairman said.

He stressed the Bahrain’s national priorities as he chaired today the meeting of the EDB executive committee. He urged efficient visions and mechanisms, taking into account present and future needs. He also instructed concerned authorities to commit to strict terms in implementing projects. He stressed particularly the terms governing urban categorization and infrastructure projects. Municipalities and Urban Planning Affairs Minister  Dr Jumaa Al Kaabi gave a presentation updating the session on steps taken so far to implement Bahrain’s strategic masterplan.

He underscored the importance of coordinating land uses, stressed the need for a mechanism to meet infrastructure requirements.  The EDB session was also updated on ministry plans to expand green spaces, taking into account housing, industrial and social needs.  In this regard, Deputy King stressed the importance for citizens to benefit fully from these vital projects on all levels. “These schemes shall be buttressed by necessary facilities to meet citizens daily life needs”, he said.
