Deputy King chairs EDB meeting

His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Deputy King, Crown Prince and Chairman of the Economic Development Board (EDB), congratulated today the ministers on their appointment stressing that the royal trust is a recognition of their unabated efforts to serve Bahrain and its leader His Majesty the King.

Chairing the EDB Executive Council meeting today, he wished the new cabinet success in fulfilling its national duty welcoming new Works Minister Essam bin Abdullah Khalaf and recalling with respect the remarkable efforts of his predecessor Electricity and Water Affairs Minister Fahmi bin Ali Al Jowder. The executive scheme of the National Authority for Organizing Health Professions and Services, which was created by a royal decree in February 2010, was highlighted in a comprehensive presentation during the meeting.

HRH the Crown Prince directed those in charge of the authority to ensure all plans tune with the best international criteria and practices so as to improve health services provided for people in Bahrain.He also instructed to ensure the culture of change and modernisation is being adopted in this key sector lauding Bahraini professionals’ contribution in this regard.

The authority’s Board Chairman Shawqi Amin underlined keenness to coordinate efforts with the Health Ministry and adopt unified criteria in controlling health services provided by the public and private sectors. The authority is finalizing procedures to assume its duties in 2011, he said pointing out that its recommendations would be effective in 2012 on all health establishments in Bahrain. Tender Board Chairman Dr.Nazar bin Sadaq Al Baharna outlined the board’s main achievements and its efforts to upgrade work mechanisms to further boost competitiveness, increase productivity and optimize the use of public money.

The council was also briefed on main strategic oil and gas projects through a presentation by Oil and Gas Affairs Minister and Chairman of the National Oil and Gas Authority Dr.Abdul Hussain bin Ali Mirza.
