HRH Premier opens Jewellery Arabia 2010
Our civilizational traits, investment incentives, competitive potentials and approach to economic development have laid the basis for our continuous success and pioneering role in the exhibition industry, His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa said as he opened today Jewellery Arabia 2010 in the Presence of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Chairman of the Economic Development Board (EDB).
Continuity of the exhibition since its inception 19 years ago and the growing interest in it every year underline the kingdom’s commercial and economic capabilities which have been able to keep pace despite the international economic shake-ups, he added. He also stressed the government’s resolve to go upbeat in ensuring an ever-ascending economic growth that guarantees continuity for all developmental activities.
Both leaders toured the exhibition which features more than 600 local and foreign jewel companies showcasing a line-up of precious golden and silver jewellery and watches alongside precious stones and gems. They exchanged talks with the exhibitors who lauded HRH the Premier’s patronage of the exhibition.
They also extended thanks to both leaders for their keenness to visit the exhibition.<br> Bahrain has gained a leading position in the international exhibition industry, HRH the Premier said expressing satisfaction over the growing number of participants in Jewellery Arabia.
The kingdom has become a place to promote international brands banking on its outstanding economic and tourism status, he stressed. We are proud Bahrain is one of the countries chosen by major international exhibition companies to organize their exhibitions, thus prompting us to give more care to this industry which we bet its future contribution to the national economy will multiply, he explained.
The doors of the kingdom are open to such economic activities which are enriching our economy and benefiting Bahraini investors, HRH the Premier said. He also revealed that the exhibition industry is of great concern for the government and occupies a big space in its development programmes for it is unique in imparting vigour to all economic activities.
We are delighted to record a new economic achievement everyday amidst an international financial crisis which has shaken the whole world, he said pointing out Bahrain’s continuously rising economic index while other international economies are receding due to the global economic downturn.
