His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and the Economic Development Board (EDB) Chairman, today said that the national economy should be dedicated to the service of the Bahraini citizens and directly reflected on their standards of living.
Chairing the EDB meeting at Riffa Palace, in the presence of Deputy Premier Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa and HM King Hamad’s Personal Representative Shaikh Abdulla bin Hamad Al Khalifa, HRH Crown Prince called for the need to set up the necessary mechanisms for the sake of further boosting the national economy and diversifying its revenue sources so as to meet the citizens’ needs as outlined by the Economic Vision for Bahrain, 2030.
During the meeting, Finance Minister Shaikh Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa gave a presentation about the latest economic developments, especially the state budget for the next two fiscal years. In this context, HRH Crown Prince indicated that the budget should be compatible with the National Economic Strategy and the different development plans, adding that it should boost the economic and social sectors in order to upgrade the citizens’ standards of living in line with His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s directives to meet the citizens’ needs and make them on top of the kingdom’s plans.
“The National Economic Strategy should include dynamic plans and programmes that can ensure the achievement of the goals outlined in the Economic Vision, 2030 and turn them into reality,” he also said, noting that the budget should reflect the on-going coordination between the different ministries and government bodies.
