Deputy King Receives Canadian Premier’s Envoy
Deputy King His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander, today received the Canadian Premier Stephen Joseph Harper’s written message to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa on bilateral relations and issues of mutual interest.
This came as HRH Crown Prince received at Al Riffa Palace today, in the presence of Foreign Affairs Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, the Canadian Premier’s Envoy to promote the Canadian candidacy to a non-permanent seat at the Security Council Leonard Edwards.
During the meeting, HRH Crown Prince supported the Canadian candidacy, hailing Canada’s stances in support of the Middle East peace process and the Palestinian people’s rights. “The kingdom is looking forward to further enhance coordination and bilateral cooperation with Canada thanks to the two countries’ potentials,” he said.
The two sides also discussed the latest regional and international issues and stressed the importance of safeguarding the region’s security and stability. On his part, Leonard Edwards praised the kingdom’s support for Canada’s candidacy to be a non-permanent member of the Security Council, lauding Bahrain’s stances aiming to consolidate regional peace and stability. He also lauded HRH Crown Prince’s advanced economic vision. Present were Head of the HRH Crown Prince’s Court Shaikh Khalifa bin Daij Al Khalifa and the Canadian Ambassador to Bahrain.
