HRH Crown Prince Chairs EDB Meeting

His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and the Economic Development Board (EDB) Chairman today urged the concerned governmental sides to join efforts in order to provide infrastructure and basic services needed for the housing projects, currently carried out in partnership with the private sector, commit to the deadlines set previously and remove any obstacles delaying that.

Chairing the EDB’s Executive Committee at Al Riffa Palace, HRH Crown Prince called for the need to provide the basic requirements of the citizens by creating  suitable housing environments that meet the standards of the development projects underlined by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.

During the meeting, HRH Crown Prince was briefed by the Housing Ministry on the new housing projects executed in conjunction with the private sector, what has been done so far and their completion deadlines. Earlier, EDB’s Chief Executive Shaikh Mohammed bin Isa Al Khalifa gave a presentation about a comprehensive proposal to set forth policies aiming to organise and encourage creativity in the kingdom. It is important that efforts are joined in order to focus on creating jobs for the national benefit in line with the directives of HM King Hamad who said that development projects are useless unless they serve the kingdom and its citizens, he said.

He also pointed out to the importance of creativity in speeding up the kingdom’s economic growth and dynamism owing to the kingdom’s legislative incentives, such as the copyright law, which pave the way for different creative activities, calling for the need to overcome the existing challenges through promoting the culture of innovation and creativity and developing bylaws safeguarding creativity freedom. At present, we should focus on encouraging scientific research in all economic sectors, finding research sponsors and creating a cooperative framework between the concerned sides to set up creativity-promoting projects, he added.

The meeting also discussed the challenges facing the employment of Bahrainis and the main economic sectors that have recruited Bahraini nationals and are still capable of providing jobs that appeal to the Bahraini citizen and meet his expectations.
