HRH Crown Prince Receives General Petraeus

His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander, today said that the solid friendship linking Bahrain and the USA is based on institutional cooperation for the common interest of both countries and for the sake of securing peace in the region, as outlined by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa who is keen to safeguard the high level relations with the subsequent US Administrations.

 Speaking as he received today at Al Riffa Palace the commander of US Central Command General David Petraeus and his accompanying delegation, HRH Crown Prince indicated that coordination at the levels of defence and development are necessary for keeping Bahraini-US friendly relations. HRH Crown Prince discussed with General Petraeus the current situation in Iraq, calling for the need to help brotherly Iraq to regain its stability and security and role as a key regional partner as soon as possible.

On the Middle East conflict, HRH Prince Salman called upon the USA to lead the International Community to help all parties to come up with  a peaceful solution for the Palestinian cause in order to promote peace and stability in the region, appreciating the major role played by the USA to safeguard security and stability in the Middle East and GCC regions.

On his part, General Petraeus lauded the key role played by Bahrain, under the wise leadership of HM King Hamad, in supporting regional and international peace and stability, praising the kingdom’s development strides.Chief of Staff Major General Shaikh Duaij bin Salman Al Khalifa, Head of the Crown Prince’s Court Shaikh Khalifa bin Duaij Al Khalifa, Brigadier Munir Al Subaie and the US Ambassador to Bahrain Joseph Adam Ereli were present.
