HRH Crown Prince chairs EDB meeting

His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and Economic Development Board Chairman has entrusted upgrading educational curricula in Bahrain with Bahraini educationists, describing the move as a sacred national mission that will protect burgeoning minds.

He said developing educational curricula has to remain the responsibility of Bahraini nationals in line with the royal reform vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa which considers education a national pillar that should always remain in the service of citizens and a tool to boost their educational skills and patriotism. Commenting on the educational presentation by Education Minister Dr.Majid Al Nuaimi before the EDB Executive Committee meeting, he chaired at Riffa Palace today, HRH the Crown Prince said the growth of modern Bahrain is owed mainly to the educational process, a noble legacy that has to be preserved.He urged to hold on to Bahrain’s educational specification which has given momentum to development in the kingdom pointing out the need for openness to avail of the experiences of advanced nations while keeping educational curricula Bahraini in spirit, practicality and aspiration.

HRH the Crown Prince took pride in the rich outcome of the educational reform scheme and congratulated the Education Minister as well as the ministry staff for their efforts.He called on the ministry to promote freedom and creative thinking among students so as to preserve the constructive educational momentum.He also praised the key role played by teachers in this regard directing to accord them special concern and improve their conditions.

Dr Al Nuaimi spotlighted in his presentation the Education Ministry’s tendency to extend the sphere of the scheme’s trial phase to improve schools performance nationwide according to reports submitted by the Quality Assurance Authority.He reviewed the achievements made over the past 18 months since the launch of the programme which included the inauguration of 14 initiatives.Sixty schools will benefit from the programme in 2010 including those with low performance, he said highlighting various challenges facing the project and suggested solutions for them.
