HRH Crown Prince chairs EDB meeting

His Royal Highness Crown Prince and Economic Development Board (EDB) Chairman Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa directed today to take into consideration optimum implementation of the national economic strategy while preparing the public budget.

Sound and rational budget helps achieve the vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa in serving citizens and assists His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa in concretizing the royal wish and carrying out vital projects, HRH Prince Salman pointed out as he chaired today EDB executive committee meeting. HRH the Crown Prince evaluated the visit of Singapore’s Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong and stressed the need for officials in the kingdom to keep abreast of major international economic changes and the potential emergence of a new global economy involving an unprecedented balance between major economic powers like China, India, the USA and the European Union.

HRH Prince Salman reviewed the outcome of the 40th annual World Economic Forum held recently in Davos in light of the global economic downturn. He also thanked the Housing Ministry for its efforts in preparing various housing schemes which are expected to benefit many citizens nationwide. EDB Operations Chief Executive Kamal Ahmed gave a presentation on the kingdom’s economic performance last year in light of international indices which show Bahrain’s high ranking compared to other countries.

An agreement has also been reached to set up work teams in every ministry in charge of coordinating directly with EDB to boost competitiveness. Deputy Prime Minister Shaikh Ali bin Khalifa Al Khalifa extended thanks and respect to His Majesty the King, HRH the Prime Minister and HRH the Crow Prince for their support of Bahrain International Air Show which further promoted Bahrain’s status as a host of such major events. He also hailed the efforts exerted by Southern Governor Shaikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Head of the Supreme Organizing Committee in this regard.
