HRH Price Salman Congratulates UAE on 3rd Yas Marina Grand Prix

His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander, today congratulated the UAE, led by President Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al-Nahyan and Deputy President, Prime Minister and Dubai Ruler Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al-Maktoum, on hosting the 3rd edition of the Abu-Dhabi F1 Grand Prix.

 He hailed the efforts of UAE Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and UAE Armed Forces Deputy Supreme Commander General Shaikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al-Nahyan to ensure the successful hosting of the global motorsport event. HRH Prince Salman earlier arrived in the UAE capital to attend the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

He was welcomed on arrival by Deputy Premier and Interior Minister  Lieutenant-General Shaikh Saif bin Zayed Al-Nahyan, Bahrain Ambassador Mohammed bin Hamad Al-Maawda, Bahrain Embassy staff and other officials. HRH Prince Salman toured Yas Marina Circuit, hailing state-of-the-art facilities. He stressed the popularity of Formula One, stressing the pioneering role of Bahrain in promoting this motorsport in the Gulf region and the Middle East. “F1 Grand Prix played a crucial role in projecting Bahrain’s culture, economy, society and sport to the world”, he said. He described the motorsport strides in the GCC as a positive development, benefiting peoples in the region, cementing GCC complementarity and opening up the door for the young generation to reach out, brush up their skills.

He announced that Bahrain Grand Prix would return to the Kingdom in April 2012, reaffirming resolve to protect this sport achievement, led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa. “Bahrain Grand Prix ranks among the Kingdom’s ambassadors, epitomizing Bahrain leaders and people’s ambition to ensure more landmark achievements and progress in all sectors.
