HRH Prince Salman Warns Against Long-term Impact of Boycott on National Economy
His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander, warned against the long-term detrimental impact of boycott calls on national economy. “The so-called boycott is a result rather than the cause”, he said. He was responding to a speaker’s remarks during his visit to the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry, regarding boycott calls among the trading community which long worked together in harmony, and how it could further fuel sectarianism.
“As far as I know, the boycott is now abating after months during which shops became empty and saw their business plummet. This is a good sign which we encourage”, HRH Prince Salman said. He stressed the importance of joining ranks and building bridges.
He expressed his confidence in the ability of Bahrainis to build their country, boost productivity, competiveness and justice. He said that the Kingdom of Bahrain has a real opportunity to continue the march of construction and forge ahead progress. “We have social challenges and a legacy which we have to overcome. We can succeed and rise up to this challenge, united under the leadership of His Majesty the King and the flag that we grew to honour”, he said.
