HRH Crown Prince receives US Central Command Commander

His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander, has stressed that the National Consensus Dialogue, called for by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, is a continuation of the decade-long comprehensive development march which is aimed at boosting citizens’ welfare.

 He was speaking as he received at Riffa Palace today Commander of the US Central Command General James Mattis, in the presence of Fifth Fleet Commander Admiral Mark I. Fox and the US Deputy Chief of Mission. Both sides discussed developments in Bahrain, the National Consensus Dialogue and measures taken by the government, under the directives of HM the King, to promote national unity and democracy and provide a favourable climate for the dialogue to yield more political, economic and social reforms. Boosting bilateral cooperation and other issues of mutual concern were also spotlighted.

General Mattis commended the positive steps taken by Bahrain to pave the way for a serious and constructive dialogue hailing the setting of the Independent Royal Fact-finding Commission to look into the recent incidents in Bahrain. Present at the meeting were Chief of Staff Major General Shaikh Daij bin Salman Al Khalifa, Economic Development Board Chief Executive Shaikh Mohammed bin Isa Al Khalifa and Director of HRH the Crown Prince’s office Brigadier Mounir Ahmed Al Sebei.
