HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister chairs weekly Cabinet Meeting
His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, today chaired the weekly Cabinet Meeting at Gudaibiya Palace.
The Cabinet congratulated the National Guard on the 25th anniversary of its establishment, and commended its readiness and efficiency in performing national duties, including its vital role in safeguarding the Kingdom of Bahrain.
To mark Diplomatic Day, held annually in Bahrain on 14 January, the Cabinet noted the success of Bahrain’s diplomatic mission over the past 50 years. The Cabinet also reiterated that Bahrain will continue to establish and nurture relations with other countries in the interest of national security and development.
As part of the Royal Directive to provide 40,000 housing units to citizens, His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, directed that 2,000 additional housing units will be allocated to citizens. His Royal Highness tasked the Ministry of Housing with distributing the housing units in question across the Kingdom’s Governorates by February of this year.
Following a review of a memorandum submitted by the Government Executive Committee on the fourth edition of Government Innovation Competition ‘Fikra’, the Cabinet noted that competition received an impressive number of quality entries. The Cabinet announced that the benefits of the winning projects will be studied so that they can be implemented across ministries and government agencies.
The Cabinet noted the measures undertaken by authorities regarding consumer protection. The Cabinet directed the intensification of inspection campaigns, to ensure the technical, organisational, and procedural aspects of consumer protection laws to be implemented.
The Cabinet concluded by reviewing the latest developments in the Republic of Kazakhstan. The Cabinet expressed its wishes for safety and stability for Kazakhstan, and for it to maintain peace which is in the best interest of the people’s well-being and country’s prosperity.
The Cabinet discussed several memorandums during the meeting with the following outcomes:
The approval of the following memorandums:
1. A memorandum by the Ministerial Committee for Legal and Legislative Affairs on avenues of cooperation between the Executive and Legislative Authorities. The memorandum aims to progress shared objectives which benefit the Kingdom and its citizens, and the adoption of a government guide in support of this.
2. A Memorandum by the Ministerial Committee for Financial and Economic Affairs and Fiscal Balance concerning a draft decision on private executor licensing and renewal of licenses.
3. A memorandum by the Ministerial Committee for Legal and Legislative Affairs regarding the government’s response to a proposal submitted by the Council of Representatives.
The Cabinet also reviewed the following topics:
1. A memorandum by the Ministerial Committee for Legal and Legislative Affairs regarding draft legislation approving the accession of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the United Nations Convention on International Settlement Agreements Resulting from Mediation.
2. A memorandum by the Ministerial Committee for Financial and Economic Affairs and Fiscal Balance reporting on the Committee’s work during 2021, which focused on the delivery of the government program and the Fiscal Balance Program, and its priorities which are structured around 7 pillars and include 31 programs.
3. A memorandum by the Minister of Electricity and Water Affairs on the electronic transformation of 10 services provided to over 400,000 subscribers.
