HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister chairs weekly cabinet Meeting

His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, today chaired the weekly cabinet meeting, held remotely.

On the occasion of World Day for Safety and Health at Work, the Cabinet stressed the importance of occupational health and safety across workplaces, noting national efforts aimed at protecting employees across various sectors against COVID-19.

The Cabinet noted the ongoing strong collaboration between the Executive and Legislative Authorities, which is centered around forward looking ambitions and goals, reiterating the Government’s commitment to facilitating further cooperation in this regard.

The Cabinet expressed its sincere condolences to the government and citizens of the Republic of Iraq, following the accidental fire that broke out at the Ibn Al-Khatib Hospital in Baghdad, which took the lives of 82 people. The Cabinet wished the injured a speedy recovery.

The Cabinet further expressed its sincere condolences to the Republic of Indonesia following the death of the crew members of an Indonesian navy submarine that sank off the coast of Bali.

The Cabinet expressed the Kingdom’s support to the Republic of India’s fight against COVID-19, extending sincere condolences to the government and citizens of India, following the deaths of COVID-19 patients. In this regard, the Cabinet decided on sending medical equipment and oxygen to India to support its fight against COVID-19.

The cabinet discussed a number of memorandums during the meeting and outlined the following outcomes:

Firstly: The approval of the following memorandums:

1. A memorandum from the Supreme Council for the Development of Education and Training on a number of school and post-school education development initiatives, which are based on developing flexible paths for post-school learning, organising e-learning, recognising its qualifications in accordance with procedures and regulations, setting professional standards for practicing 35 practical professions, and developing the educational system and infrastructure for schools.

2. A memorandum submitted by the Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism regarding the amendment of the executive regulations of the Commercial Companies Law, to facilitate procedures aimed at ensuring the Kingdom remains in line with international developments in the commercial sector.

3. The proposed mechanism for publishing terrorist lists and the sanctions list issued by the Security Council in the official gazette. The move aims to ensure the Kingdom’s commitment to coordinate and conform with the enforcement of procedures for dealing with these lists.

4. A memorandum from the Ministerial Committee for Legal and Legislative Affairs regarding the government’s responses to 10 proposals and two law proposals submitted by the Council of Representatives.

Secondly: The cabinet reviewed the following topic:

1. A memorandum submitted by the Minister of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning, regarding the decisions and requests of municipal councils during the year 2020, in which the cabinet directed to support the capabilities of municipal councils and direct their requests and recommendations towards their effective course to achieve sustainable development.
