HRH the CP: Unity of purpose is required to overcome the challenge of COVID-19
His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister, today met remotely with Liu Jingzhen, the Chairman of the China National Pharmaceutical Group Corporation (SINOPHARM), and Dr. Peng Xiao, the Chief Executive of G42, an artificial intelligence company based in the Abu Dhabi.
HRH the Crown Prince noted that unity of purpose and international cooperation are needed to successfully overcome the current global challenges presented by coronavirus (COVID-19).
HRH the Crown Prince further noted the Kingdom’s continued commitment and determination to support global efforts in combating COVID-19 by contributing to the phase III clinical trials aimed at safeguarding the health of people everywhere.
HRH the Crown Prince extended thanks for the efforts of those conducting the clinical trials in the People’s Republic of China and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), adding that the Phase III clinical trials would not have been possible without the commitment of Chinese citizens volunteering for its second phase.
HRH the Crown Prince emphasised that bilateral cooperation between Bahrain and the UAE during the phase III clinical trials reinforces the strength of relations between the two countries, which continue to advance across all levels.
HRH the Crown Prince expressed his best wishes for the success of the phase III clinical trials, adding that the approval and global adoption of the vaccine would represent a humanitarian milestone and a major step in overcoming one of the greatest challenges faced by humanity.
HRH the Crown Prince highlighted that volunteering alongside the Kingdom’s loyal citizens and residents within the phase III COVID-19 clinical trials was one of many individual contributions to ensure a safe solution is developed to eradicate the virus and protect others.
In this regard, HRH the Crown Prince expressed his pride in the Kingdom’s citizens and residents who have willingly made great sacrifices during these unprecedented times.
For their part, Jingzhen and Dr. Xiao expressed their greatest gratitude and appreciation for HRH the Crown Prince’s support to further strengthen efforts aimed at combating and eradicating COVID-19 and safeguarding all.
