HRH Crown Prince chairs weekly Cabinet meeting
His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister, today chaired the weekly Cabinet meeting at Gudaibiya Palace.
Following the meeting, the Cabinet Secretary-General, HE Dr. Yasser bin Issa Al-Nasser, made the following remarks:
HRH the Crown Prince extended his gratitude to the relevant authorities within the Ministry of Interior for raising awareness and educating the Kingdom’s communities on home safety guidelines to avoid home accidents and damage.
HRH the Crown Prince directed to further intensify awareness and educational campaigns on the proper way to use gas cylinders and electrical appliances, taking into consideration the safety and security requirements to prevent future accidents.
HRH the Crown Prince further directed the relevant authorities to strengthen inspections, ensuring gas cylinders are placed in designated areas outside homes, and ensuring the regular maintenance of electrical installations.
In this regard, HRH the Crown Prince commissioned the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism to prepare guidelines for home and business owners in cooperation with the Ministry of Labour and Social Development and the Ministry of Health.
HRH the Crown Prince further directed the Ministry of Health to prepare a comprehensive study on the status of the Kingdom’s health centres, including working hours, in order to evaluate and ensure citizens’ access to adequate medical services and healthcare in different locations at all times.
The Cabinet then condemned the abhorrent terrorist attack that targeted a security checkpoint in El-Arish, in the Arab Republic of Egypt. The Cabinet reiterated the Kingdom’s solidarity and support to Egypt in its efforts to maintain its security and stability.
The Cabinet also followed with great interest the developments in the Republic of the Sudan. The Cabinet calls on Sudan to prioritise its interests, including maintaining its safety and stability, and to safeguard its achievements.
A number of submissions, memorandums and proposed laws were discussed during the meeting. The Cabinet outlined the following outcomes:
Firstly, the Cabinet reviewed the measures taken to implement the directives of His Majesty King Hamad Bin Isa Al Khalifa to continue facilitating the swift movement of passengers on King Fahad Causeway in order to keep pace with the increased rate of travel. The Cabinet reviewed a memorandum from the Minister of Interior, which highlights the following topics:
1. The measures taken to facilitate the attainment of HM the King’s Royal Directives
2. The introduction of new services that aim to ensure the swift movement of passengers and goods across the causeway
3. Progress of the Single Passport Link system
His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister praised the Ministry of Interior’s efforts in ensuring the swift movement of passengers and goods across the causeway, particularly during the Eid Al-Fitr break, noting that passengers’ waiting time was minimized despite growing demand.
HRH the Crown Prince also praised the continued cooperation between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on the further development of the King Fahd Causeway.
Secondly, the Cabinet approved a draft law amending the Commercial Companies Decree Law No. (21) of 2001, and referred it to the legislative authority in accordance with constitutional and legal procedures. The proposed law, which was submitted by the Shura Council, allows the presence of an agent to attend the general assembly of a company by a special and permanent power of attorney prepared by the Company for this purpose. This is based on the recommendations of the Ministerial Committee for Legal and Legislative Affairs that was presented by the Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Committee.
Thirdly, the Cabinet referred a memorandum by His Excellency the Minister of Youth and Sports Affairs on sports clubs’ financial subsidies and debts to the Ministerial Committee for Financial, Economic and Fiscal Balance Affairs.
Fourthly, the Cabinet approved the government’s response to a proposal submitted by the Council of Representatives regarding setting housing unit prices according to the size of the unit.
Recommendations were submitted by the Ministerial Committee for Legal and Legislative Affairs and presented by HE the Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Committee.
