HRH CP: Values of moderation play an integral role in confronting and defeating extremism
His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister, this evening visited the Majlis of Taqi and Sadiq Al Baharna and the Majlis of Yousif Abdulwahab Al Hawaj and sons. HH Shaikh Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa accompanied HRH during the visits.
During the visits, HRH stressed that the values of moderation play an integral role in confronting and defeating extremism, noting that extremists misinterpret the tolerant teachings of Islam and politicise them in a way that serves their purposes. In this regard, HRH outlined that the Kingdom and its people, under the leadership HM King Hamad, are protected from external influences that affect unity and cohesion. The Crown Prince also emphasised that Bahrain has chosen development over destruction, coexistence against retaliation, and moderation instead of extremism.
HRH highlighted that the Kingdom continues to develop its infrastructure through a series of initiatives that support sustainable development, adding that the Gulf Development Programme has contributed to supporting these projects. The Crown Prince noted that the most important element of the programme is within the housing sector, which has seen a large acceleration of housing developments. HRH also noted the importance of the expansion of Bahrain International Airport and the development of road networks and transport services
HRH confirmed that Bahrain’s economy continues to grow despite global economic challenges. HRH explained that the Kingdom’s wide-ranging diversification efforts, which are paramount given the global decline in oil prices, have played crucial role in ensuring Bahrain’s success
HRH went on to highlight that citizens are at the heart of Bahrain’s development efforts; outlining the importance of investing in national talents, creating high quality jobs and opportunities, and improving living standards for all
HRH stressed the importance of focusing on key sectors achieve the best returns from economic development, highlighting in particular the need to expand industrial investment projects in order to diversify sources of income
HRH said that the majlis visits reflect the uniqueness of Bahraini society and its national identity, which is inspired by the Islamic faith, its culture, and its vision of a promising future that we aspire to realise
HRH added that enhancing the public and private sector partnerships is an important element to establishing a sustainable pattern of growth in various economic fields
