Deputy King HRH CP: The war today is between moderation and extremism and we are firmly committed to moderation
The Deputy King, His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, this evening visited the Majlis of the Chairman of the Shura Council, Ali Saleh Al-Saleh, the Majlis of Abdul Hussain Khalaf Al Asfoor, and the Majlis of Faisal Jawad. HH Shaikh Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa accompanied HRH during the visits.
- During the majlis visits, The Deputy King highlighted that the war and conflict between moderation and extremism points to the importance of preventing religions from being politicised, noting that extremism has no place in modern, civilised societies.
- The Deputy King stressed Bahrain’s firm commitment to confronting extremism and illicit funding of terrorism, and added that supporting extremism inside the GCC or anywhere in the world cannot be tolerated.
- HRH added that the principles of pluralism and moderation underpin Bahrain’s enduring efforts to defeat all forms of extremism and terrorism, and have long driven the country’s commitment to protecting the unity of its society from external exploitation by choosing development over destruction, coexistence against retaliation, and moderation instead of extremism.
- The Deputy King praised the Kingdom’s longstanding diversification efforts, adding that the non-oil sector grew by 3.7 per cent last year.
- The Deputy King stressed the importance of continuing to introduce sustainable policies and enhance legislative frameworks in order to meet citizens’ needs and aspirations.
- The majlis hosts and guests expressed their gratitude for the Deputy King’s visit, and highlighted the instrumental role His Royal Highness continues to play in advancing the Kingdom’s development and prosperity.
