HRH CP: The world today is united in declaring war on extremism

His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister, this evening visited the Majlis of the Kazerooni family and the Majlis of Khalid Al Sharif. HH Shaikh Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa accompanied HRH during the Majlis visits.

 

During the visits, the Crown Prince stressed that extremism does not and cannot have a place in civilised societies. HRH noted that the extremism and acts of terrorism being witnessed in the world today must be defeated.

 

HRH added that the world today is united in declaring war on extremism and extremist ideologies that go against the principles of moderation and compassion, which the religion of Islam is known for.

 

HRH stressed that there is no conflict between thought and religion, but what is being faced today is the desperate attempt to exploit and politicise religion, finance terrorism, commit crimes and spread chaos.

 

The Crown Prince highlighted that Bahraini society must uphold its central values and strong beliefs in pluralism, in line with His Majesty King Hamad’s vision for the country.

 

HRH also underscored the importance of excluding from society henious acts of extremism and terrorism in various countries, and instead come together in pursuit of shared prosperity and development.

 

The Crown Prince emphasised that the positions taken by Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Egypt and other Arab countries is a firm stand against the support the Qatari leadership has provided to extremist groups.

 

HRH stressed that the joint decision is not against the Qatari people, but against its leadership’s continued support to extremist groups.

 

His Royal Highness said that Bahrain and its people have consistently paid the price for the support others have given to extremism, and that for many years the Kingdom has attempted to combat this evil ideology alongside it allies and partners; however, in 2017, such actions can no longer be tolerated.

 

 

Speaking about the Kingdom’s economy, HRH emphasised that the Kingdom’s strong and flexible economy has enabled it to deal with the effects of the changes in the oil market.

 

HRH also added that the Kingdom is committed to implementing initiatives that support innovation, creativity, and the development of a knowledge-based economy which enhances expertise and high skilled jobs

 

The majlis’ hosts and guests expressed their gratitude for HRH’s visit, and highlighted the instrumental role the Crown Prince continues to play in advancing sustainable development and driving non-oil sector growth.
