HRH Crown Prince attends Islamic Summit
On behalf of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister, today participated in the 13th Islamic Summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Istanbul, Turkey.
During the opening day of the summit, the Crown Prince emphasised the vital role unity and cooperation plays in confronting the challenges currently faced by the Muslim world.
His Royal Highness stressed that the OIC is a unique and important forum for the world’s Muslim nations to come together and address common challenges, saying that it provides an opportunity to clearly demonstrate Islam’s inherent peaceful and tolerant principles.
The Crown Prince underlined the instrumental role His Majesty has played in supporting diversity and reinforcing unity amongst Bahraini society.
His Royal Highness also praised His Majesty’s pioneering role in supporting initiatives that reinforce religious and cultural respect, which reflect the Kingdom’s awareness of the dangers of intolerance, exclusion and extremism.
Turning to the OIC summit, the Crown Prince welcomed the Summit’s highly relevant topics of discussion, saying that the agenda underscores the significant political and economic challenges facing Muslims in the Middle East and around the world, and that the role of the OIC has never been more important to these efforts.
His Royal Highness noted the specific theme of the OIC Summit, “Unity and Solidarity for Justice and Peace”, which, he said, represents a powerful statement of Islamic nations’ collective commitment to spreading the true Islamic values of justice and peace.
His Royal Highness praised the efforts of the OIC’s Secretary General and expressed hope that the Summit will provide beneficial outcomes that further increase Islamic cooperation across all sectors.
His Royal Highness extended his appreciation to the Republic of Turkey and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan for hosting the event and their continued efforts to strengthen Islamic collaboration.
The Summit was also attended by the Deputy Prime Minister, His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, His Excellency Shaikh Khaled bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, the Director-General of the Office of the First Deputy Prime Minister, His Excellency Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, and Bahrain’s Ambassador to the Republic of Turkey, His Excellency Dr Ebrahim Al-Abdulla
