Crown Prince discusses Yemen at Riyadh meeting

His Royal Highness Prince Salman Bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister, today attended a meeting held by His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Nayef bin Abdulaziz, the Second Deputy Prime and Minister of Interior of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in Riyadh. 

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, His Excellency Sheikh Abdullah Bin Nasser Bin Khalifa Al Thani, the Prime Minister of Qatar, and His Excellency Sheikh Mohammad Al-Khaled Al-Sabah, the Deputy Prime Minister of Kuwait also attended the meeting. 

The meeting included discussions on significant regional developments, with a particular focus on recent events in the Republic of Yemen. Concern was expressed about recent events in Yemen and their implications on security and stability across the region and wider world.

The meeting affirmed the commitment of all GCC leaders to support efforts to restore peace and security throughout Yemen and the wider region. Their Highnesses and Excellencies noted that any attempts to undermine the security of Yemen directly impacted their national security.  

During the meeting, their Highnesses and Excellencies stressed the importance of initiating dialogue amongst parties that are seeking to restore order, and highlighted the importance of pursuing the objectives outlined in the President of Yemen’s letter to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, in which he highlighted the need for dialogue under the stewardship of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC). 

His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Commander of the Royal Guard, His Excellency Lieutenant-General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Minister of Interior and His Excellency Lieutenant-General Theyab bin Saqer Al Noaimi, Chief of Staff, also attended the meeting.
