HRH Crown Prince chairs Executive Committee meeting

His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister, chaired today an Executive Committee meeting at Riffa Palace.

During the meeting the Committee commissioned the Ministry of State for Follow-up Affairs to prepare a report on the responses by government departments to shortcomings identified in the annual report of the National Audit Court (NAC), and to classify them according to type and priority.

The Committee has instructed the Ministry to submit its report within ten days in order to examine the departments’ replies and take the necessary actions to address them according to the relevant legal and procedural requirements.

The Committee also reviewed the progress of the implementation of the resolutions adopted during its previous meetings, especially those regarding legal action against a number of identified irregularities that may require criminal proceedings.

The Committee also received updates on the measures taken to suspend government employees facing trial, as well as the recommendations of Working Group formed by the Committee to take practical steps to rectify issues identified in NAC’s report to ensure they are not repeated. The Committee also studied the policies and actions proposed by a number of government departments in this regard.

During the meeting, His Royal Highness emphasised the need to continue consolidating the principles of accountability and responsibility to ensure transparency in public expenditure, in line with the reforms spearheaded by His Majesty King Hamad that strengthen the rule of law and public institutions.

His Royal Highness further directed the Committee and its Working Group to continue addressing all the issues mentioned in the NAC’s report by following-up on the implementation of the resolutions and rectifying all issues identified.
