Crown Prince meets Director of the Regional Office of International Peace Institute for the Middle East

His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister today received the Director of the Regional Office of International Peace Institute for the Middle East, Ms Maha Ba Hamdoun, at Gudaibiya Palace.

His Royal Highness emphasised that the Kingdom of Bahrain is both committed to and engaged in reform and development domestically and in the region.

In this context, His Royal Highness highlighted the Kingdom’s continuing work to enhance civil rights, in particular women’s empowerment and participation across different sectors, and ensure women’s role in the Kingdom’s sustainable development programme, which falls within the framework of the reform and development programme initiated by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa.

During the meeting, His Royal Highness noted the importance of coordinating the efforts of institutions responsible for research and strategic studies to further spread long term development in the region.

His Royal Highness went on to express his appreciation for Regional Office of International Peace Institute for the Middle East’s choice of the Kingdom of Bahrain as a base. His Royal Highness noted that this step benefits not only the capabilities of the International Peace Institute but also supports, through the studies, programmes and activities carried out by the office, the development work by the Government and the Non-Governmental Organisations.

In response, Ms Ba Hamdoun welcomed the opportunity to meet His Royal Highness, and noted his and the Kingdom of Bahrain’s commitment to supporting the mandate of the new office and cooperation between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the International Peace Institute. Ms Maha added that the meeting had also been an opportunity to showcase the operational plan for the new office in the Kingdom.
