Crown Prince meets Indonesian Deputy Speaker
His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister today met Deputy Speaker of the People’s Representative Council of Indonesia, Mohamad Sohibul Iman, at Gudaibiya Palace.
Welcoming the Deputy Speaker, His Royal Highness said that the visit served to assist closer coordination and collaboration between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Republic of Indonesia, particularly on legislative and parliamentary affairs.
During the meeting, His Royal Highness highlighted the growing relations between Bahrain and Indonesia, and the wider interest from within the GCC to further develop ties with all members of Associated of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN).
His Royal Highness further underscored the economic and industrial development examples set by Asian countries, and noted in particular Indonesia’s prominence as one of the key emerging markets in the region.
His Royal Highness also praised the role of Indonesia in supporting Islamic and Arab affairs.
For his part, Dr. Iman welcomed the opportunity to meet His Royal Highness and expressed his gratitude for His Royal Highness’ commitment to enhancing bilateral relations between the two countries, and between the members of the GCC and ASEAN.
The Deputy Speaker further praised His Royal Highness’ initiatives to drive development across a range of sectors, and also noted Bahrain’s experience in reinforcing the role of parliament and the legislature. He concluded by wishing Bahrain further prosperity and development.
The meeting was also attended by Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Dhahrani, the Speaker of the Council of Representatives of Bahrain, and an accompanying parliamentary delegation from Indonesia.
