Crown Prince receives head of National Audit Court

His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister today received Hassan Al Jalahma, head of the National Audit Court (NAC) at Gudaibiya Palace. The meeting was also attended by senior members of the government, including Deputy Prime Ministers and Ministers.

His Royal Highness stated that all areas of the Government would address the issues raised in the National Audit Report as a priority, and underscored that the Report will be reviewed thoroughly and impartially by the relevant offices in order to address any shortcomings.

His Royal Highness also noted that regular scrutiny of public spending is vital to sustainable reform and development, and called on those present to foster institutions and laws that protect citizens from the misuse of public money. His Royal Highness recalled that this responsibility is one of the main pillars of the reform programme, initiated by His Majesty King Hamad more than a decade ago.

His Royal Highness emphasised that a number of recurring shortcomings noted in the Report are not in line with the reform and development plan.   Alongside this, His Royal Highness praised those government bodies that had addressed shortcomings identified in previous reports.

His Royal Highness welcomed the NAC’s accuracy and transparency in its reports, highlighting that the NAC was responsible for monitoring ‎the performance of the Executive Authority.

In response, the Head of the NAC praised the meeting with His Royal Highness for the opportunity it presented to review the NAC Report, and also praised the government for its responsiveness in swiftly adopting the recommendations put forward in the report.
