Deputy King Meets Baroness Sayeeda Warsi
His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Deputy of His Majesty the King and Crown Prince, met Baroness Sayeeda Warsi, Senior Minister of State at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, today at Riffa Palace. The meeting was also attended by HE Kamal bin Ahmed Mohammed, Minister of Transport and Acting Chief Executive of the Bahrain Economic Development Board (EDB).
Baroness Warsi presented His Royal Highness with an invitation to the 9th World Islamic Economic Forum, scheduled to be held in London between the 29th and 31st of October 2013. His Royal Highness was also invited to be speaker at the event, alongside a line up of prominent international personalities.
During the meeting, His Royal Highness touched on the developing role of Islamic economics internationally, and the sector’s various financial and banking tools. His Royal Highness highlighted the importance of international economic meetings to discuss Islamic finance and stressed the importance of continuing the development of regulatory and legislative structures to ensure its sustainability.
His Royal Highness and Baroness Warsi together reviewed topics on the forum’s agenda, the first of its kind held outside the Islamic world, with His Royal Highness stating that the forum represented a dynamic platform for those interested in this sector. The meeting also discussed the positive progress of bilateral relations between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the United Kingdom.
In this regard, His Royal Highness noted the UK’s interest in utilizing opportunities for economic cooperation alongside the exchange of expertise in this area. His Royal Highness also recognized the UK’s support for reform efforts in Bahrain and the success seen in the UK of merging different components of British society to allow them to contribute effectively to further growth and progress.
