HRH the Crown Prince visits the majlises of H.E. Shaikh Ebrahim bin Hamad Al Khalifa and of the family of Mr. Sadiq Al-Baharna

His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister this evening visited the majlises of H.E. Shaikh Ebrahim bin Hamad Al Khalifa and the family of Mr. Sadiq Al-Baharna.During his visits, His Royal Highness reaffirmed that community leaders should adopt a responsible position and seek to build consensus amongst all groups. He emphasized that the alternative option – an approach based around isolation, violence and terrorism – will only lead to a state of disorder and tension.

His Royal Highness noted the interview undertaken by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa with Elaph E-Newspaper, highlighting His Majesty the King’s call for moderate parties to positively engage and take responsibility.  His Royal Highness noted that this call reflected the people of Bahrain’s impatience with some parties’ maintaining an isolated and inflexible stance. His Royal Highness stated that the approach taken by certain sides, and the community leaders behind them, would appear to indicate that they are not seriously committed to achieving a solution and unacceptably a minority continue to reject the views of others, considering their political views unequal or irrelevant.

Despite the views of some, His Royal Highness stressed that all parts of society are considered equal in the Kingdom, and Bahrain’s foundation as a nation is built on the accommodation of its entire people without exclusion or unequal rights for any segment of society. His Royal Highness continued by pointing out that having the courage to admit previous shortcomings, by all political and religious community leaders, is a requirement to effectively engage with efforts towards a new phase of national development, without dwelling on certain events in the past that may pose an obstacle towards further progress. His Royal Highness noted that the leadership has demonstrated its commitment to this culture through numerous initiatives and steps to achieve Kingdom’s development goals, and continues its focus on building sound legal institutions and practices.

In addition, His Royal Highness noted work is ongoing to implement the recommendations of the Bahrain Independent Commission of Inquiry’s (BICI) report, and steady progress is being made, as demonstrated by the careful management of the issue relating to places of worship. His Royal Highness went on to express disappointment that whenever progress is made in bringing sides together to formulate solutions, levels of violence are intensified, demonstrating that there are some parties that seek to undermine any efforts towards reaching a solution.

His Royal Highness made it clear that now is time to join efforts and promote cooperation among all people in the best interests of Bahrain, and reiterated His Majesty the King’s position that dialogue is the right channel to solve all issues, through consensus and without the exclusion of any segment of society. He noted that work is ongoing to support this path, as established by His Majesty the King, to nullify the reach of extremists that are attempting to disrupt the spirit of the Bahraini identity and the values of mutual respect, and to bring people together to serve the development of the country.

With regards to government action, His Royal Highness the Crown Prince underlined the fact that citizens remain the government’s top priority, stating that economic policies are aimed at enhancing citizen-oriented services and improving living standards. He highlighted the importance of preserving Bahrain’s strong economic reputation and on building on the platform that has already been achieved. He also praised the fact that a number of young Bahraini leaders have reached high positions in international and regional organisations, which reflects the next generation’s skill, efficiency and ability to build trust, and helps communicate the values of the Kingdom on the global stage.

The audiences expressed thanks and appreciation to His Royal Highness the Crown Prince for his commitment to the annual tradition of visiting majlises during the holy month of Ramadan and hailed His Royal Highness’s national dedication, whilst praising Bahraini society’s dedication to achieving national unity.
