HRH Crown Prince Receives GCC Education Ministers
His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander, has affirmed that investing in education should enjoy top priority, given its essential role in preparing national cadres who are capable of building a better future for the Arab Nation.This came as HRH Crown Prince received at Al Riffa Palace today GCC Education Ministers, Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani and key participants at the 22nd General Conference of the Arab Bureau of Education for the Gulf States (ABEGS), currently held here.
HRH Crown Prince highlighted the pivotal teaching and educational roles played by educational institutions, stressing the importance of investing in education as the best way to foster patriotism and national belonging and promote national and social fundamentals. He also stressed that educational output should cater to the labour market needs in order to facilitate graduates’ access to it, emphasizing that efforts to develop education in the GCC countries should continue in order to keep abreast of the best world practices.
HRH Prince Salman also reviewed with those present the situation of education in the Arab World and the GCC region, calling for the need to focus on Arabic, the language of the holy Quran and the symbol of unified cultural identity, through developing its teaching methods so as to cope with modern requirements and those of the labour market.The meeting also touched upon the efforts of participating countries to improve the quality of education, with special focus on Bahrain’s initiatives to develop education, as well as professional development programmes benefiting teachers.
