HRH Prince Salman:”We Condemn Violence from All Sides”
His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme commander today said in a statement to reporters that the Formula 1 race should go on as scheduled, as its cancellation will play in the hands of extremists.
Responding to reporters’ questions as he was touring the Bahrain International Circuit in the company of F1 Supremo Bernie Ecclestone, he said that he can provide guarantee that any protest is not against Formula 1.
“The formula 1 Race allows us to build bridges between communities, get people working together. It allows us to celebrate our nation as an idea that is positive, not one that is divisive”, he said.HRH Crown Prince voiced his belief that having the race would prevent extremists from doing what they think they need to do out of the world attention.
He added that the country is in need for such a global race as it is a positive event that serves the national interests above all other consideration. HRH went on to say that demonstration that took place today was part of the political process in any country.Asked about the security forces, HRH said that he was aware that in the past year that there some security personnel were too heavy-handed, adding that those who were proven to be so we held accountable.
He went on to say that any future transgression proven these people should be held accountable. He went further to say that protesters also should not be given green light as they are theme committing acts of violence. HRH Prince Salman concluded by saying that he condemns violence from all sides.
