His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander, has lauded the advanced level of Bahraini cadres in charge of the King Hamad University Hospital (KHUH), whose distinguished work has entitled the KHUH to be among the most developed medical milestone in the region.
HRH Crown Prince also asserted that the KHUH, inaugurated last month under the auspices of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, has developed the medical services provided for citizens and spared many of them the burden of seeking them overseas.He also pointed out that the state-of-the-art KHUH will also create a positive environment for researchers and academicians to upgrade their work, adding that it is a model health project that will be followed by similar ones in the kingdom, in line with the Bahrain’s strategy to develop the health sector using the latest technology.
This came as HRH Crown Prince opened here today the Oncology Department at the KHUH.On arrival, HRH Crown Prince was welcomed by the State Minister for Defence Affairs Lieutenant-General Dr. Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, Advisor to HM the King for Sports Affairs, Muharraq Governor Salman bin Isa bin Hindi, Commander of the KHUH Brigadier-General Dr. Shaikh Salman bin Atiyatallah, a number of Muharraq citizens and senior officials of the KHUH.
“We are resolved to bring about more medical achievements for our dear citizens relying on our highly-qualified medical cadres who are exert tremendous efforts to improve the quality of services provided in our dear nation,” HRH Crown Prince said as he opened the new department.Then, HRH Crown Prince was briefed on the work of the Oncology Department, especially the early detection of cancer tumors using Positron emission tomography (PET) test that uses a special type of camera and a tracer (radioactive chemical).HRH Crown Prince praised the advanced level of the new section which will provide quality services for the citizens reduce the sufferings of the patients and their families and save their time, efforts and un-necessary expenses.
Then, HRH Prince Salman toured the KHUH’s sections where he was briefed by department heads on the medical and diagnostic services each section provides.He also met with doctors and members of the Executive Team of the Bahrain Defence Force, in charge of operating the KHUH.After that, HRH Crown Prince recorded a statement in the VIP Record.In the end of the visit, HRH Crown Prince expressed his sincere thanks and appreciation to the State Minister for Defence Affairs, members of the BDF Executive Team and the medical staff for the tremendous endeavours they have made to prepare the hospital and equip it in a record time.
