HRH Crown Prince Receives General Mattis

His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al KHAlifa, Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Court received at Riffa Palace today the Commander of the US Central Command General James E. Mattis, who was accompanied by the Commander of the US 5th fleet Admiral Mark Fox.

During the meeting, HRH Crown Prince reviewed with General Mattis the latest developments in the kingdom, including efforts aimed at enhancing democracy and involving NGOs in the decision-making process, stressing the need to provide a democratic culture that would be feasible to implement so that better life is ensured to everyone.

HRH Prince Salman also reviewed with the General Mattis a number of issues of common concern, affirming the strong historical relations linking Bahrain and the USA in various fields, especially military and defence coordination. The security situation in the Gulf region was also discussed during the meeting.For his part, General Mattis lauded the decision made by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa with regard to involving the public in decision-making, which, he said, reflects the Bahraini society’s democratic and political awareness.
