HRH the Crown Prince attends Abu Dhabi Grand Prix
His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister today attended the 2014 Formula 1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
His Royal Highness highlighted the increased importance and growth of motorsport in the Arab world and the vital role that Abu Dhabi has played in further promoting motorsport in the region. Reflecting on the success of the Formula 1 race held in Bahrain in April this year, he also expressed his delight in reuniting with the Formula 1 community at Abu Dhabi’s Grand Prix.
His Royal Highness further added that the growing popularity of motorsport contributes to the development of the region’s economy. He particularly emphasised the role of the Bahrain and Abu Dhabi races in diversifying the regional economy by boosting tourism and providing networking opportunities for international and regional businesses.
Highlighting the deep coordination between Bahrain and Abu Dhabi on the organisation of the Formula 1 races, His Royal Highness underlined Bahrain’s commitment to promoting motorsport in the Middle East, including the contribution of Bahraini race marshals to the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
His Royal Highness concluded with extending his congratulations to Abu Dhabi for hosting a successful Formula 1 Grand Prix.
During the event, His Royal Highness met with His Majesty King Abdullah II of Jordan, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces and a number of senior officials.
