HRH the Crown Prince receives follow up on irregularities outlined in the NAC report

His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister today met with the Minister of State for Follow-Up Affairs, His Excellency Mohammed bin Ibrahim Al Mutawa, at Gudaibiya Palace.

During the meeting, His Royal Highness received from His Excellency Al Mutawa a report by the committee responsible for following up on the National Audit Court (NAC) report.

His Royal Highness noted the important role played by various executive agencies in successfully implementing an efficient and effective methodology to tackle issues of non-compliance raised by the NAC report. He further added that these measures also prevent such irregularities from reccurring in the future.

His Royal Highness stressed that the NAC periodic reports serve as important indicators, contributing to promoting best practice. In this regard, he highlighted that the mechanisms used to compile the reports are continuously being improved, and stressed that future reports will contribute to a marked decrease in accounting irregularities by different government entities. 

His Royal Highness then noted that strict auditing measures adopted to protect public funds represent one of the main pillars of the reform and development programme initiated by His Majesty King Hamad, and are aligned with the principles laid out in the 2001 National Action Charter.

His Royal Highness emphasised that these measures also complement other efforts by the government under the leadership of the Prime Minister, His Royal Highness Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al-Khalifa.

His Royal Highness subsequently praised the Minister of State, his team and the committee for their efforts in reviewing the procedures related to the implementation of recommendations contained in the NAC report. He underlined that supporting the people who contribute to the development process is a shared responsibility.

Upon presenting the report’s findings, His Excellency Al Mutawa highlighted the administrative measures that are called for in the NAC report and explained how these recommendations will help to avoid irregularities from reoccurring in the future.

The meeting was also attended by His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Salman bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, son of His Royal Highness the Crown Prince.
