HRH the Crown Prince meets UK Defence Secretary and Chief of Defence Staff of British Armed Forces
His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister today met with UK Secretary of State for Defence, Rt Hon Michael Fallon and Chief of the Defence Staff of the British Armed Forces, General Sir John Nicholas Reynolds Houghton, at Gudaibiya Palace.
During the meeting which focused on recent significant regional developments, His Royal Highness highlighted the importance of increased efforts to counter all forms of terrorism to ensure lasting stability in the Middle East. He further emphasised that Bahrain and its GCC allies are global partners for long term peace and security, highlighting their commitment to countering all forms of terrorism and eliminating the spread of violent extremism in the region.
His Royal Highness then emphasised the strength of bilateral relations between the UK and Bahrain, which he stressed are built upon the principles of shared strategic goals. In this regard, His Royal Highness highlighted the extensive efforts of both countries to further enhance cooperation, particularly in the areas of security and defence.
In response, RT Hon Fallon highlighted His Royal Highness’ significant contributions to further strengthening cooperation between Bahrain and the UK, and highlighted the extensive collaboration between the two countries in the areas of defence and security.
The meeting was also attended by His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Salman bin Hamad Al-Khalifa and His Excellency Lt-General Dr. Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al-Khalifa, the Minister of State for Defence Affairs.
