Crown Prince meets UK Minister of State for the Middle East

His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister today met with the UK Minister of State for the Middle East and North Africa, Hugh Robertson MP, at Riffa Palace. 

During the meeting, His Royal Highness and Mr Robertson discussed the latest international and regional developments, with a particular focus on areas of mutual interest and cooperation. His Royal Highness welcomed the United Kingdom’s role as a partner for supporting peace and stability in the Middle East, and praised its understanding of the many challenges facing the region. 

His Royal Highness welcomed the shared interest between Bahrain and the UK in enhancing bilateral relations across a range of sectors, and highlighted the firm foundation the close historical links between the two countries has given to the further development of bilateral ties. His Royal Highness particularly highlighted the UK’s long-standing and ongoing support for various sectors and initiatives that reinforce the reform and development programme laid down by His Majesty King Hamad.

Mr. Robertson expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to meet with His Royal Highness, and expressed the UK’s appreciation of Bahrain’s commitment to strengthening bilateral ties. 

He also stressed the importance of increasing cooperation and coordination between the two countries, particularly in the development of closer economic links. His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Salman bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, son of His Royal Highness the Crown Prince, and His Excellency Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed Al-Khalifa, the Minister of Foreign Affairs also attended the meeting.
