Crown Prince meets Chairman of Russia’s Sberbank

His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister, today met the Chairman of Sberbank, Herman Gref, in Moscow.

During the meeting, His Royal Highness provided an overview of Bahrain’s strategy for diversifying its economy, in particular the Kingdom’s focus on further developing its banking and financial sectors.

In this respect, His Royal Highness emphasised Bahrain’s transparent regulatory framework as a key driver of growth in these sectors, and highlighted the opportunities for investment available to Russian businesses.

His Royal Highness emphasised Bahrain’s interest in forging stronger relations with Russian companies, and noted that the MOUs signed during his visit are testament to Bahrain’s commitment to improving economic ties between the two countries.

His Royal Highness underscored that cooperation and exchange between the Bahraini and Russian financial sectors will significantly benefit both sides, with both Eurasia and the Arabian Gulf major and thriving markets.

For his part, Mr. Gref expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to meet with His Royal Highness, and conveyed his interest in investing in Bahrain’s open economy. He further welcomed the increased cooperation between both countries, as evidenced by His Royal Highness’ visit to Russia.

The meeting was also attended by His Excellency Kamal bin Ahmed, Minister of Transportation and Acting Chief Executive of the Bahrain Economic Development Board.
