Deputy of HM the King receives the Secretary General (ICAO) and the Secretary General (WCO)

Deputy King His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al-Khalifa met at the at Gudaibiya Palace today the Secretary General of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), Mr. Raymond Benjamin, and the Secretary General of the World Customs Organisation (WCO), Mr. Kunio Mikuriya, .

Both officials will attend the ICAO-WCO organised joint-event tomorrow, hosted by the Bahrain’s Ministry of Transport to address challenges facing the cargo industry.

His Royal Highness highlighted the Kingdom’s commitment to developing the aviation sector. He added that Bahrain’s civil aviation law that passed last year aimed to align the Kingdom’s aviation sector with global safety and security standards.

Mr Raymond and Mr Mikuriya expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to meet with His Royal Highness. They both underscored Bahrain’s commitment to infrastructure development. Both officials further noted that various initiatives and policies have facilitated greater connectivity and integration with the GCC region, in turn yielding a positive impact on the civil aviation and cargo industry in the Kingdom. 

The meeting was also attended by His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, son of His Royal Highness the Crown Prince, and His Excellency Lieutenant General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Minister of Interior.
