Deputy King meets Chairman of the Arab Parliament

Deputy King His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al-Khalifa today met with the Chairman of the Arab Parliament, His Excellency Mr. Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Jarwan at Riffa Palace.

Discussing recent events in the Kingdom, His Royal Highness stressed that any attempt to undermine the security of the country will not alter Bahrain’s determination to fully apply the rule of law. He expressed the primacy of maintaining the security and stability of the nation as well as its social cohesion and unity. In doing so, His Royal Highness also reinforced Bahrain’s solid commitment to the GCC.

His Royal Highness then gave special praise to the Arab Parliament for its vocal support to the Kingdom of Bahrain for its measures to thwart terrorism, and in its condemnation of the terrorist attack in Daih that claimed the lives of three policemen.

Looking at wider regional affairs, His Royal Highness stressed that the current regional and international situation made it continually necessary for Arab countries to align their positions in order most effectively confront shared challenges.

In bringing the Arab region closer together, His Royal Highness noted the importance of the role of the Arab Parliament in reflecting the outlook and will of the people of the region and presenting their collective viewpoints in regional and international forums. He wished the Arab Parliament continued success in enhancing pan-Arab cooperation across political and social affairs.

In response, HE Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Jarwan expressed his condolences to families of the deceased in the recent terrorist attack as well as to the Kingdom of Bahrain and its people for their collective loss. He underscored the Arab Parliament’s support to Bahrain in its comprehensive measures to secure the country and its people.

His Excellency also thanked Bahrain for hosting a meeting of the Arab Parliament in Manama and for the interest of His Royal Highness in stimulating pan-Arab parliamentary co-operation in order achieves shared goals and objectives.

The meeting was also attended by the Chairman of the Representatives Council, HE Khalifa bin Ahmed Al-Dhahrani, and Chairman of the Shura Council, HE Ali bin Saleh Al Saleh.
