Official statement by Deputy King following terrorist attack, which claimed the lives of three police officers

Deputy King His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al-Khalifa today issued the following statement following the death of three police officers in a terrorist attack in Al Daih village outside of Manama on Monday:

His Royal Highness extends his sincere condolences to the families of the three deceased policemen.  He notes that their lives were taken while serving to protect the safety and security of the country and people of the Kingdom of Bahrain.  To those injured in the attack, His Royal Highness wishes a speedy recovery.

His Royal Highness unequivocally condemns all acts of violence and terrorism and stresses that such acts gravely undermine the causes of peace and progress in the country.  He stressed that such attempts to undermine national security can not be tolerated and will not be allowed to affect the Kingdom’s commitment to the safety and security of all its citizens, to the unity of the nation and its ties to its GCC neighbours.

His Royal Highness went on to affirm that maintaining security and stability is a priority that requires all Bahrainis to stand together in order to prevent potential threats to the stability of the Kingdom.

His Royal Highness also emphasised that the rule of law provides clear and appropriate mechanisms to address such violations, not least in maintaining the core national values enshrined in the Kingdom’s National Action Charter of 2001.

In conclusion, His Royal Highness announced that an extraordinary cabinet meeting will be held tomorrow in order to address any and all acts of violence and terrorism in the Kingdom.
