Deputy King meets Lord Mayor of London

Deputy King His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al-Khalifa met the United Kingdom’s Lord Mayor of London, Fiona Woolf in Gudaibiya Palace today.

During the meeting, His Royal Highness highlighted the Kingdom of Bahrain’s commitment to bolstering financial and business services and enhancing the role of this sector through close coordination with other financial centres across the world, in particular the United Kingdom.

His Royal Highness welcomed the Lord Mayor’s visit, which marks the celebration earlier this year of 200 years of bilateral relations, built on mutual respect, between Bahrain and the United Kingdom.

His Royal Highness also welcomed the role of the Lord Mayor in encouraging companies to seize the setup incentives provided for financial institutions in both nations 

His Royal Highness went on to emphasise how London’s hosting of the World Islamic Finance Conference demonstrated the United Kingdom’s interest in further developing Islamic finance. His Royal Highness further underscored the mutual interest between Bahrain and the United Kingdom in supporting Islamic finance institutions and recent developments in this sector.

His Royal Highness then confirmed the Kingdom’s interest in enhancing close coordination on various economic and investment affairs.

In response, the Lord Mayor expressed her appreciation to the Kingdom of Bahrain and praised its commitment to enhancing close coordination between the two countries, particularly within the economic and business spheres. She went on to praise the role of His Royal Highness in supporting bilateral relations between the two countries and the role played by the Bahrain Financial Harbour in developing the Islamic finance sector through hosting various institutions working within the field.

Following the meeting His Royal Highness hosted an official lunch at Gudaibiya Palace to celebrate the visit of the Lord Mayor and her accompanying delegation.
