Deputy King Chairs Executive Committee meeting to discuss GCC Development Plan

Deputy King His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al-Khalifa instructed the implementation of development projects being funded by the GCC Development Programme to be expedited in order to fully address the needs of Bahrain’s citizens, during the Executive Committee meeting today.

His Royal Highness stated that the GCC Development Programme is designed to deliver significant improvement in public services particularly housing, infrastructure, public services and other social developments.

His Royal Highness went on to emphasise that the GCC Development Programme devised for the Kingdom of Bahrain aptly demonstrates the close cooperation and coordination that exists between GCC countries. 

His Royal Highness further noted that all the projects under the Programme will be implemented according to the existing plans and priorities within a specific timeframe. His Royal Highness also highlighted that housing development accounts for the majority of the programme’s projects, a prioritisation that underlines His Majesty King Hamad’s directives to provide housing that fully meets the needs of all Bahraini families. His Royal Highness added that the Government of Bahrain, under the leadership of His Royal Highness Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, the Prime Minister, was upholding this commitment through these projects

During the meeting, the Committee also looked at the overall budget breakdown of the GCC Development Programme, which identified that US$430 Billion have been predominantly allocated for various social development and infrastructure projects.

The Committee’s discussions also covered detailed reports from the relevant responsible government committees on the next phase of projects currently being planned under the GCC Development Programme. These projects were initially prioritised under the supervision of the Services and Infrastructure Committee.

His Royal Highness concluded the meeting by stressing that different phases of projects will be implemented in line with transparency requirements and optimum use of allocated funds to deliver significant improvements in public services and to fully address the needs of Bahrain’s citizens.
