HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister attends the closing ceremony of the Bapco Energies Bahrain Championship
On behalf of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, today attended the closing ceremony of the Bapco Energies Bahrain Championship, which was held at the Royal Golf Club.
HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister affirmed that Bahrain’s successes in hosting international championships are due to His Majesty the King’s unwavering support and the relentless efforts of the national workforce.
HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad noted that the Bapco Energies Bahrain Championship is one of the most prominent international golf tournaments, which highlights the strength of the Kingdom’s sports and tourism capabilities.
His Royal Highness noted the efforts of HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, HM the King’s Representative for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs, and HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, Chairman of the General Sports Authority, and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, in supporting the youth and sports sectors and enhancing organisational efforts to ensure the Kingdom’s success in hosting international sporting events.
His Royal Highness also attended part of the closing ceremony of the Bapco Energies Bahrain Championship, during which he presented the championship trophy to the winner, Freddy Schott of Germany, and the second-place trophy to Calum Hill of Scotland.
The Championship featured the participation of an elite field of 138 players representing 28 countries.
His Royal Highness the Crown Prince and Prime Minister also presented certificates of appreciation to HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, HM the King’s Representative for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs, HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, Chairman of the General Sports Authority, and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, Bahrain Mumtalakat Holding Company (Mumtalakat), Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA), Beyon, Bapco Energies Group, Bapco Refining, Royal Golf Club, the Labour Fund (Tamkeen), the National Bank of Bahrain, Gulf Air Group and Royal Bahrain Hospital were recognised for their outstanding efforts and contributions to the success of the tournament.
HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad noted the efforts of the Championship’s organisers, Bapco Energies, the sponsors and partners, the various committees and volunteers, which contributed to the success of this event.
During the ceremony, Dr Abdulrahman Jawahery, Acting Managing Director of Bapco Energies and CEO of Bapco Refining, delivered an address emphasising that the Championship reinforces the Kingdom of Bahrain’s standing in international sport and its capability to host prestigious sporting events.
Tom Phillips, Director of the Middle East for the DP World Tour, also delivered an address affirming that the Bapco Energies Bahrain Championship has cemented its status as a flagship event on the DP World Tour, reinforcing its growing importance year after year.
Tom Phillips highlighted the strong level of competition on display throughout the Championship, underscoring the Kingdom of Bahrain’s growing stature in the international sports arena.
Tom Phillips emphasised that the Championship plays a key role within the DP World Tour’s International Swing, showcasing the Kingdom of Bahrain alongside some of the region’s most prestigious tournaments and reinforcing its long-term vision and standing as a leading destination for international sport, tourism, and business.
Several senior officials also attended the event.
