HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister chairs the weekly Cabinet meeting

His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, today chaired the weekly Cabinet meeting at Gudaibiya Palace.

The Cabinet congratulated His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa on the successful organisation of the 2026 Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia, marking the 22nd edition of the event, which was hosted by Malaysia with the blessings of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar, Yang di-Pertuan Agong of Malaysia, and attended by HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

The Cabinet expressed its gratitude to His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar, Yang di-Pertuan Agong of Malaysia, for his unwavering support in hosting the race.

The Cabinet commended the critical role played by the Malaysian government, led by HE Anwar Ibrahim, the Prime Minister of Malaysia, which contributed to the success of this major sporting event.

The Cabinet expressed its appreciation for Team Bahrain’s efforts across various sectors, including the organisers of Formula 1, the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA), Bahrain International Circuit (BIC), the PETRONAS Sepang International Circuit, and all participating teams, whose dedicated endeavours contributed to the success of the race.

In this regard, the Cabinet welcomed the opening of the Kingdom’s Embassy in Kuala Lumpur, held under the patronage of His Royal Highness, underscoring its importance in advancing Bahrain-Malaysia relations.

The Cabinet extended its congratulations to HM the King on Bahrain’s participation in the 20th Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026, where the Kingdom ranked first among Arab countries and secured 22 medals, with the national handball team winning its first-ever gold medal.

The Cabinet commended the efforts of HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, His Majesty the King’s Representative for Humanitarian Works and Youth Affairs and Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, and HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of the General Sports Authority, and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, in advancing the Kingdom’s sports sector.

The Cabinet highlighted His Royal Highness’s visit to the Ministry of Information and the National Communication Centre (NCC), expressing its appreciation to the national workforce at the Ministry of Information and the NCC, as well as the local press, for their commitment to carrying out their duties with efficiency and responsibility amid the hostile Iranian aggression against Bahrain.

The Cabinet condemned the continued terrorist attacks by the Iran-backed Houthi group against the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the latest of which targeted the Taibah Power Distribution Station in Madinah, which supplies electricity to the Prophet’s Mosque.

The Cabinet emphasised that the attack constituted a flagrant violation of humanitarian and international law, the charters of the United Nations and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, as well as a blatant breach of religious values and moral principles.

The Cabinet also noted that the attack represents a dangerous escalation amid the repeated targeting of the Two Holy Mosques and Islamic holy sites, as well as a provocation to the sentiments of Muslims worldwide.

The Cabinet also reviewed the outcomes of the 2026 Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia.
