HRH the CP and PM issues Edict no 21 of the year 2020 amending some provisions of Edict No. (15) of the year 2017

His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, issued Edict No. (21) of the year 2020 amending some of the provisions of Edict No. (15) of the year 2017, regarding the establishment and formation of the National Committee for Geospatial Information Governance and its operations. The Edict included the following:

Article 1

Replace the text of Article 1 of Edict No. 15 of the year 2017 on the establishment and formation of the National Committee for Geospatial Information Governance and its operations, with the following text:

A committee called (the National Committee for Spatial and Geographic Information Governance) is to be established and will be referred to in this Edict by the word (the Committee). The Committee will follow the Ministerial Committee for Development and Infrastructure Projects, be formed under the chairmanship of the CEO of the Information and eGovernment Authority, and will include members representing the following authorities:

1.  The Information and eGovernment Authority.

2.  The Survey and Land Registration Bureau.

3.  The Ministry of Housing.

4.  The Ministry of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning.

5.  The Electricity and Water Authority.

6.  The Urban Planning and Development Authority.

7.  The National Space Sciences Authority.

A decision to nominate the members of the Committee will be issued by the chairman of the Ministerial Committee for Development and Infrastructure Projects based on the nomination of each of the aforementioned bodies, provided that the level of representation is not less than the level of an Assistant Undersecretary.

The Committee will select a Vice-President from among its members at its first meeting who will exercise the authority of the President in the event of the President’s absence.

Article 2

Replace the phrase “Ministerial Committee for Reconstruction and Infrastructure” with the phrase “Ministerial Committee for Development and Infrastructure Projects” wherever it appears in Edict No. (15) of the year 2017 on the establishment and formation of the National Committee for Geospatial Information Governance and its operations.

Article 3

The concerned authorities – each within its jurisdiction – shall implement the provisions of this Edict, and it shall be enforced from the day following the date of its publication in the Official Gazette.
