HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister issues edict 20 of 2020 amending provisions of edict 31 of 2017 reforming the High Coordination Committee for Human Rights
His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, issued Edict No. (20) of 2020 amending some of the provisions of Edict No. (31) of 2017, regarding the reformation of the High Coordination Committee for Human Rights. The Edict included the following:
Article (1):
The Articles (1) and (2) of Edict No. (31) of 2017 regarding the reformation of the High Coordination Committee for Human Rights is replaced by the following two texts:
Clause (1):
The High Coordination Committee for Human Rights shall be reformed, under the chairmanship of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, and the membership of the following:
1. The Assistant Foreign Minister – Vice Chairman.
2. A representative from the Court of HRH the Prime Minister.
3. A representative from the Ministry of Cabinet Affairs.
4. A representative from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
5. A representative from the Ministry of Interior.
6. A representative from the Ministry of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments.
7. A representative from the Ministry of Education.
8. A representative from the Ministry of Labour and Social Development.
9. A representative from the Ministry of Health.
10. A representative from the Ministry of Information Affairs.
11. A representative from the Public Prosecution.
12. A representative from the Supreme Council for Women.
13. A representative from the Legislation and Legal Opinion Commission.
14. A representative from the National Communication Centre.
15. A representative from the National Intelligence Agency.
16. A representative from the Ombudsman.
17. A representative from the Special Investigation Unit.
18. A representative from the Labour Market Regulatory Authority.
The Chairman shall issue an edict naming the representatives of the entities, following the nomination of the represented entities. Nominees must be at the level of Assistant Undersecretary or equivalent, and the term of membership in the Committee is three years, renewable for other similar periods.
Clause (2)
If the seat of any of the committee members becomes vacant for any reason, someone representing the same entity will replace him, and the new member shall complete the term of his predecessor.
Article (2)
The Minister of Foreign Affairs shall implement the provisions of this edict, which shall take effect from the date of its issuance, and is to be published in the Official Gazette.
