HRH Crown Prince meets US Deputy Secretary of State and highlights collective approach towards Syria urgently needed
His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister, today met the United States Deputy Secretary of State Antony Blinken and the commander of United States Central Command General Lloyd J. Austin III on the sidelines of the Manama Dialogue.
During the meeting, His Royal Highness welcomed the US delegation to the 11th edition of the Manama Dialogue security conference. His Royal Highness then highlighted the historic relations between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the United States of America, and emphasized the importance of further strengthening political, military and economic coordination between the two countries in order to achieve lasting regional security and stability.
His Royal Highness then underscored the importance of a unified international approach to decisively address the ongoing crisis in Syria and alleviate the suffering of the Syrian people. Further to this point, His Royal Highness highlighted that Bahrain, alongside its GCC partners, will continue to enhance its efforts to promote stability in Syria and the wider region.
Turning to Yemen, His Royal Highness highlighted the significant achievements of the Arab Coalition led by Saudi Arabia to protect Yemen’s sovereignty. His Royal Highness called upon all parties in Yemen to pursue a political solution that ensures the country’s future.
His Royal Highness and Deputy Secretary Blinken then discussed recent regional developments in addition to a number of issues of regional and international importance.
In response, Deputy Secretary Blinken welcomed the opportunity to meet with His Royal Highness, and extended his congratulations to Bahrain for hosting such an important event, noting that discussions have addressed some of the most pressing issues facing the region today.
